Courtney
Kennel Staff
Working with animals isn’t just a job for Courtney. It’s a passion. In fact, she couldn’t imagine doing anything else! As one of our Kennel Technicians, Courtney firmly believes that every animal deserves a positive boarding experience, and she strives to provide that kind of experience to each and every guest.
Courtney’s journey began with volunteer work at a local dog and cat rescue, which she did throughout high school. From there, she landed her very first job at a dog daycare and boarding facility before moving on to launch her own pet-sitting and dog-walking business. While her business endeavor was a success, Courtney decided to go in a different direction when she moved to Catawba. She joined the West Shore Animal Hospital team in 2021 and hasn’t looked back since!
Professionally, Courtney has quite the knack for setting the minds of pet parents at ease. It’s important to her that our clients know that when they entrust their loved ones to us, they will receive plenty of love and care. Getting to know each animal’s unique personality is also rewarding; they are all so amazing in their own special way.
Outside of the clinic, Courtney resides with her boyfriend, Justin. Together, the couple have a veritable zoo of their own, with three wonderful dogs (Ruby, a Pit Bull, Odin, a Rottweiler, and River, an Australian Shepherd), three cats (Flynn, Twain and Mickie), two parrots (Mellow, a Pineapple Green Cheek Conure, and Lila, an Indian Ringneck), a Holland Lop rabbit (Waffles) and 20+ chickens.
When she’s not busy tending to her ever-growing animal family, Courtney enjoys going to flea markets and antique stores, visiting farmers’ markets, traveling to the mountains, fishing, and collecting gemstones. She has also fostered and rehomed countless kitties – many of whom were initially feral.

Morgan D.
Veterinary Technician
Growing up in West Palm Beach, Morgan could usually be found with a stray cat in tow, or carrying around a frog she’d found. Her passion for animals is what ultimately drove her toward a career in the veterinary industry, and not surprisingly, it suits her perfectly. As one of West Shore’s veterinary technicians, Morgan is able to put her love of animals to work, helping our patients enjoy happier, healthier lives.
While she was still living in Florida, Morgan launched her career at an emergency veterinary hospital, where she worked until she relocated to North Carolina in 2019. Shortly thereafter, she joined the West Shore Animal Hospital team, where she frequently draws from her experience in emergency medicine. Working with patients who have urgent care needs keeps her on her toes and challenges her every day.
At home, Morgan has one dog of her own – a young pit bull named Layla. Together, the two go on endless adventures, hiking and exploring. Layla also enjoys swimming and is always up for a car ride. Then there is Wheezy, a remarkably tolerant rescue cat who will let Morgan do just about anything to him, including giving him baths and walking him on a leash.
When Morgan isn’t busy working or caring for her fur babies, she can usually be found doing something (anything!) outdoors, whether it’s hiking, fishing, or just hanging out with friends around a fire. Her favorite place to be is the mountains. There’s just nothing like the sense of accomplishment you get from finally reaching the peak, not to mention the incredible views!

Haley
Receptionist
Haley has always loved animals. The combination of this love along with her natural desire to help people makes her the perfect person to man West Shore’s front desk. Not only does she get to interact with fur babies on a daily basis, but she also gets to be there for our clients, answering questions and addressing concerns that they have about their pets. It truly is the best of both worlds!
This isn’t Haley’s first experience with West Shore Animal Hospital. In 2014, she was a member of our kennel staff and also worked as a veterinary assistant. When she and her husband Zane relocated to Jacksonville, NC due to his military service, Haley spent some time working at an emergency vet clinic as well as a walk-in practice. When the couple moved back to Denver, Haley found her way back to West Shore, and the rest is history!
As one of our amazing receptionists, Haley enjoys greeting our clients and their pets and offering a smile to brighten their day. She also routinely assists our technicians and is eager to continue learning and increasing her skillset.
When she’s not busy at work, Haley can usually be found either on the beach or in the mountains. She also enjoys shopping, watching movies, and going on cruises.
Janice
Veterinary Technician
When Janice was a toddler, she got her first dog and immediately fell in love with it. Little did she know, it would mark the beginning of her lifelong love for animals. She would grow to pursue a career in the veterinary world, and today she’s a veterinary technician at West Shore Animal Hospital!
A native of Belmont, NC, Janice hails from a small family. She considers her grandmother and father to be her two biggest influences in life, as her grandmother instilled toughness in her while her father pushed her to always be her best.
Janice enjoys several aspects of being at West Shore Animal Hospital. She loves handling appointments and interacting with people and their pets. She also likes to perform medical treatments on animals; it comforts her to know that she’s helping them feel better.
When she’s not helping animals at the hospital, you can find Janice spending time with her 7 interesting dogs, or taking in the beauty of nature while going on hikes!
Brittany
Veterinary Technician
After spending some time working in the medical field, Brittany realized that it wasn’t making her happy. After a brief stint working as a receptionist at West Shore, she realized that being around animals was more fulfilling than being in human medicine. Today she’s a technician at West Shore Animal Hospital and looking to heal and help as many animals as possible!
Nothing makes Brittany happier than seeing the relationships that her clients have with their pets. Whether it’s seeing an older client with an animal that’s their only companion, or meeting a young girl who is about to enjoy her first puppy, she loves watching these precious bonds thrive.
Brittany’s hobbies include going jet skiing and spending time with her friends and family, especially her husband Dylan and their young son, Bryson. They recently added a puppy named Tyson to the household, and the dog and their son have been inseparable ever since!
Alyssa
Veterinary Technician
Different people have different reasons for entering the veterinary field. Alyssa’s reason is quite simple – she has always had a passion for animals. The connection that she has felt with them led to her wanting to interact with and care for them. She was able to join the team at West Shore Animal Hospital, where she’s been able to bring her dreams of working with animals to life!
Raised in Tarboro, NC, Alyssa spent most of her early years spending time with her friends, family, and pets. She graduated college and was able to find a job working at a childcare center before COVID struck and shut it down. After being unemployed for months, West Shore Animal Hospital gave her an opportunity to join the team as a kennel technician, and she quickly moved up to veterinary technician.
Alyssa loves taking care of and nurturing hospitalized patients, as it keeps her on her toes. She also enjoys running and reading ear cytology due to all of the interesting bacteria she gets to see.
In her free time, Alyssa enjoys doing makeup, watching Netflix, and spending valuable time with her beloved dog!
Paige
Receptionist
Every animal hospital needs a receptionist to handle the everyday duties of the office, and for West Shore Animal Hospital, Paige is that trusty receptionist. She considers her coworker’s family and loves getting to know clients and their pets!
Paige, who says her biggest accomplishment is being a mom, enjoys spending time with her boyfriend Cory and their blended family, which includes her son Easton and his daughters Addi and Kenzie. Add in their dog Keno and cat Barry into the mix and you’ve got quite the household!
Jenn
Receptionist
All pet owners want is for their animals to get the best health care possible. As a receptionist at West shore Animal Hospital, Jenn completely understands this. Her entire reason for entering the veterinary world was to help people get the best care for their beloved pets to help lead long, healthy, happy lives. Safe to say, her job is perfect for her!
A native of Peachtree City, GA, Jenn’s first experience working at an animal hospital came as a technician assistant. After working as a hairstylist for a few years, she realized that her true passion was working with animals. After relocating to North Carolina, she was eventually able to land on her feet at Westshore Animal Hospital.
From being around friendly owners and staff members to getting to be around animals, Jenn enjoys multiple aspects of her job. She relishes the opportunity to work with the team every day.
Jenn is married to her husband, Madison, and together they have one dog, six cats, and a total of 5 chickens (for now, they plan on getting more). She enjoys taking care of her pets, gardening, taking trips to breweries, and cooking the vegetables that she and her husband grow!
Megan
Receptionist
When Megan was a toddler, her parents would bring her to the zoo a lot. It was during those many memorable trips particularly the time spent in the petting zoo – that Megan officially fell in love with animals. As a Receptionist here at West Shore Animal Hospital, Megan is able to share that love with our patients and their human friends.
Prior to joining the West Shore team, Megan had been working in the human medical field. She always felt there was something missing, however, and in 2019, found what she’d been seeking when she responded to our ad for a front desk role. She relishes the fact that every day is unique. It’s a joy to see and interact with both new babies as well as our older patients who have been with us for years.
Outside of work, Megan shares her life with her husband and best friend, Rocky. Together, they have five children and one grandson (so far!). Their massive animal family consists of four dogs – Keiko, Kaia, Holland and Shiloh, who can smile on command; a cat named Fiona, a hamster, three fish, and an angry crawdad. They also have two pot-bellied pigs, a hedgehog, a chinchilla and several chickens. All of their babies – whether furry or finned, are well-loved and living their best lives.
Danielle
Receptionist
It’s always nice to find a job that you truly enjoy. After being unhappy working at various jobs, Danielle landed on her feet at West Shore Animal Hospital as a receptionist. She has enjoyed working with people and animals so much that she’s now been there for almost nine years!
Danielle hails from Orlando, FL, where she grew up in a loving, caring family that included her parents and two sisters. While she didn’t have any pets growing up, many of her friends and family members did and Danielle saw how close the bond was between them and their animals. This made her want pets of her own when she got older.
Danielle’s favorite part of her job is interacting with pet owners, putting a smile on their faces and showing them that the staff truly cares for their animals.
In her free time, Danielle enjoys traveling and she loves attending music festivals. She and her husband are currently eagerly and excitedly anticipating the birth of their first child!
Lexie
Hospital Manager
As a child, whenever Lexie was asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, she always said it would have something to do with animals. Her passion for creatures big and small began with killer whales and eventually moved to dogs and cats. Something about them just called to her and ultimately led her to her career as a Hospital Manager here at West Shore Animal Hospital.
Lexie earned her undergraduate degrees in Zoology and Psychology. Before relocating to North Carolina, she spent some time at a zoo in New York, working with penguins and other outdoor birds. Upon moving to Charlotte, where there were no nearby zoos, Lexie officially made the transition to veterinary medicine. In 2009, after moving to Lake Normal, Lexie joined the West Shore team as a veterinary tech and worked her way up to manager.
Professionally, Lexie appreciates the fact that no two days are the same and you just never know what might happen. Having been an integral part of the team for nearly fifteen years, Lexie has built some amazing relationships with our patients and their human counterparts. Seeing them come through the door is like seeing an old friend or family member. It really is the best feeling!
Lexie currently resides in Denver with her two active boys, Ethan and Aiden. Their family is made complete with Penelope, a miniature pinscher and cocker spaniel mix whom Lexie rescued in 2012. Penelope accompanies Lexie to work every day and loves to swim whenever she has the chance.
When she’s not busy managing the clinic or chasing after her kids, Lexie can often be found trekking back and forth to Disney World, where she has participated in multiple 10ks and half marathons. She also enjoys crafting, lounging on the beach or by the pool, eating Mexican food and sipping margaritas.
Dr. Stephanie Bowling
Associate Veterinarian
When Dr. Stephanie E.F. Bowling was merely a young child, she developed an affinity for her pets. She vowed to her mother that one day, she’d become a “doggie doctor.” It’s safe to say that she kept that promise because today she is an associate veterinarian at West Shore Animal Hospital!
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Stephanie would eventually attend Lycoming College, where she majored in Biology/Ecology. She then got accepted into the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and then moved to Denver, CO to officially launch her veterinary career.
Nothing brings Dr. Stephanie greater joy than helping animals who don’t have a voice for themselves. She not only enjoys making a difference in their lives, she also likes teaching others the best ways to take care of and advocate for their pets. The world of veterinary medicine allows her to solve challenging puzzles on a daily basis as she deals with different animals, but it’s a challenge that keeps her inspired!
Ultimately, Dr. Stephanie’s goal is to uphold and preserve the precious human-animal bond. She has a special interest in feline medicine, due to her own personal experience with a previous pet cat. The dentistry aspect of veterinary medicine also fascinates her. She enjoys the simple things like seeing an animal with clean teeth or helping remove a problematic tooth to help their quality of life.
In her free time, Dr. Stephanie enjoys spending time with her family, including her parents, husband, and young daughter. They currently own 4 cats, a dog, and a guinea pig, and they plan on eventually creating their own small farm complete with cows, horses, chickens, sheep and goats!
Dr. Kelsey Kendall
Veterinarian/Owner
Dr. Kendall is the cliché veterinarian who says this is the ONLY thing she’s wanted to do since childhood. Animals are tough creatures, but they need someone to help them when they can’t point out where it hurts or tell us what is going on. The idea of helping animals when they are sick, loving on new puppies and kittens, watching them grow up, helping owners navigate different illnesses, and seeing the happiness, not only in the eyes of the pets but also their humans, is what drives her every single day.
Dr. Kendall’s journey began as a child when she shadowed various veterinarians to learn and gain experience. While attending Appalachian State University, she worked as a veterinary assistant, during which time she learned the basics of how a hospital works and what being a vet truly meant. She started vet school at the University of Tennessee Knoxville in August of 2011. There, she met her husband and now business partner, Dr. Mac.
Upon graduation, Drs. Kendall and Mac relocated to western New York, where they joined a large mixed animal veterinary practice. After 15 months up north, the couple decided to move back to the south, where they worked outside of Atlanta, GA for two years gaining more experience. At this time, they decided they were ready to search for their own clinic and that’s how they ended up in Denver, NC at West Shore Animal Hospital, with the best team around! They purchased the practice in January 2019, and the rest is history!
Over her career as a veterinarian, Dr. Kendall has developed a passion for internal medicine. She loves the challenge of a good puzzling case and figuring out what’s wrong so she can help a pet in need. She also enjoys discussing preventative care and educating pet parents on how to help their animal companions live long, happy and healthy lives.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Kendall and Dr. Mac have four dogs and three cats of their own. Their dog Theo is a sweet mutt who is independent but afraid of all loud noises. Don’t underestimate him, though, because if there is a critter in the yard, they’d better be able to outrun him! Shady is a rescue who had terrible heartworm disease leading to right-sided heart failure. After a lot of work, surgery, and TLC, he is now thriving!
Their third dog, Angel, is another rescuer. She is Dr. Kendall’s very best friend and follows her everywhere. She may be small, but she snores like a full-grown man! Lastly, there is Kate, a sweet little diabetic dog that they recently took in after having spent the last three years managing her condition.
The couple’s three cats are named Max, Willie and Millie. Max is a regal beauty who loves to eat. Willie is a lover that just wants to rub against you and get attention at all times. Sweet little Millie is the queen of them all! She may only be five pounds, but the boys don’t mess with her!
Aside from the clinic, Dr. Kendall’s happy place will always be the mountains, particularly the Boone area. She also loves being on the lake, which is where you can usually find her and Dr. Mac most of the summer. In her free time, Dr. Kendall enjoys spending time with family and friends, visiting a winery or brewery, catching up on a good TV show, and spending time with her husband.
Dr. Mac Kendall
Veterinarian/Owner
When Dr. Mac Kendall was a child, he witnessed his grandfather save the lives of countless creatures, from stray cats to wayward spiders and just about everything in between. This taught him a valuable lesson about the importance of caring for all living things. As a practicing vet, Dr. Kendall can honor his grandfather’s legacy, helping sick animals and comforting people in need.
After attending Michigan State University, where he obtained his undergraduate degree in Animal Science, Dr. Kendall went on to attend The University of Tennessee, where he graduated with his DVM in 2015. He then spent some time working in Western New York and the Atlanta area before purchasing West Shore Animal Hospital in early 2019. Clinically, Dr. Kendall enjoys anesthesia and soft tissue surgery because he finds it both challenging and rewarding.
At home, Dr. Kendall is married to his wife and partner, Dr. Kelsey Kendall. Their fur family consists of three cats: Willy, Max, and Millie; and three dogs: Angel, Theo, and Slim Shady, a rescue who successfully underwent life-saving heartworm surgery.
Dr. Kendall’s personal hobbies include classic cars, car shows, and boating on Lake Norman, although he’s had to turn the rank of Captain over to Kelsey.
